FBI’s 10 Most Wanted

in Blog by Jesse Naiman on October 24th, 2009

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has once again released an updated list of its top ten most wanted fugitives:

1. Joe Luis Saenz-wanted for murdering three L.A. gang members and his girlfriend.

2. Eduardo Ravelo-wanted for racketeering and drug trafficking.

3. Seimon Mogilevich-wanted for defrauding investors.

4. James Bulger-wanted for contract killings in the Boston area during the 1970s-80s.

5. Glen Stewart Goodwin-wanted for murder and escape from a Mexico prison.

6. Robert Fisher-wanted for murdering his wife, two children, and blowing up his house.

7. Osama bin Laden-wanted for orchestrating and financing 9/11 and countless other terrorist attacks worldwide.

8. Victor Manuel Gerena-wanted for armed robbery.

9. Jason Derek Brown-wanted for murder and armed robbery.

10. Alexis Flores-kidnapping and murder of a small girl in Pennsylvania.

Obviously, if you see any of these people or have any knowledge of their whereabouts, you should contact the FBI. If you read detailed descriptions of these men, they are not typical run-of-the-mill criminals, but they are often highly-skilled individuals who are cut-out for the life of a fugitive. Among this group are avid outdoorsmen,  linguists, and successful scam artists. It will take a strong effort from the FBI to find futivies like these, so hopefully the FBI is up to the task. They appear to be, considering they captured three major fugitives last year.

Terrorist Released in Scotland

in Blog by Jesse Naiman on August 23rd, 2009

Scotland’s government defended the release of Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, a Libyan terrorist convicted of the 1988 Lockerbie airplane bombing that killed 270 people. The statement comes after FBI Director Robert Mueller denounced the release as an insult to the American victims and a comfort to terrorists worldwide. Scotland countered by insisting that public support for al-Megrahi’s release on compassionate grounds warranted such a move. Al-Megrahi is now in his native Libya to live out the last few months of his life ( Scotland released him due to a terminal illness).

Meanwhile, President Obama referred to the move as “highly objectionable.” Surely releasing a mass murderer after serving less than a decade in prison is more than “highly objectionable.”

FBI Technological Update

in Blog by Jesse Naiman on March 27th, 2009

The FBI has announced that it will add various technological updates to facilitate capturing wanted fugitives. For virtually no cost, the FBI can add the following upgrades:

“The bureau recently upgraded its use of widgets — mini-applications that can be added to a Web page or a PC’s desktop and updated remotely by simply copying and pasting Web code.

“It has designed interactive iPhone-looking posters that bloggers and MySpace and Facebook users can embed on their pages to showcase the bad guys.

“There are weekly podcasts, e-mail alerts and digital billboards posted across the country that have directly led to the capture of at least 70 fugitives.”

The FBI is also well known for its 10 most wanted list, which includes Osama bin Laden.
