Manuel Zelaya Returns to Honduras
The Honduran government ordered a curfew when word that ousted former-President Manuel Zeyala suddenly returned to Honduras. Interim President Roberto Michelleti added that the Honduran army is ready to be deployed to defend Honduran citizens if necessary.
President Barack Obama has repeatedly denounced Honduras for ousting Zelaya after his attempts to subvert the Honduran constitution, but President Michelleti has rightfully stood his ground. Drawing the ire of the leader of the world’s most powerful democracy for implementing a “coup” may not look good in the short run, but Michelleti should continue to hold his ground, provided that Honduras holds its scheduled elections of course.
